Featured Specimen

Coticule ID:

Glued Coticule from the La Dressante layer with beautiful red striae running diagonally across the surface.

This is a small rectangular specimen, but it's perfectly suited for razor honing.

Coticule Dimensions:

Speed on slurry:

Feedback on slurry:
This is a very fast Coticule with an outspoken feedback of abrasion and the typical "hissing" sound of sharpening steel. Slurry turns back quickly. Slight draw while honing.

Slurry Keenness Limit:
shaves arm hair marginally

Speed on water:

Feedback on water:
Feedback on water is almost glass-like, with a very little bit of draw. Water shows traces of steel removal after some honing, which indicates faster than average speed on water.

Edge Qualification:

This Coticule was selected by me (Bart), during a visit at Ardennes, while I went through a stock of smaller hones, selecting visually attracting pieces. These little rocks are practically jewels in the eye of the Coticule lover I am, and with their limited cost (less than 40 EUR at present), it is even for a non-collectioner as myself, tempting to start a small collection of various attractive Coticules. But they're not just for display. With their small size, they lay on the hand very easily and after some initial getting used to, they work as easily and efficiently as the longer Coticules.
