True, although the further you go from the original translation, the harder any subsequent updates become.

This also supposes that the translator fully understands what the original writer is trying to say. Otherwise you are stuck translating line by line. I know that when working with Stijn on the dilucot translation I didn't grasp everything Bart was trying to say.

I agree with Wim. The major issue is that we don't have the same skillness as Bart and so we have to stick to the original text when it is not very clear for us.

So maybe it would be a good idea to open a new thread where people involved in the translation work could ask for or find some more explanations on parts of the text from higher skill level members.

There will be new English versions up as soon as Bart has time to approve them. Hopefully (don't mess with me Robin), that will make it a little easier to know what he was trying to say.

Back on topic: Bruno is -in my opinion- spot on with his post.
The new Unicot and Dilucot revisions will be published in January. They don't bring anything new, but they are more concise and explain many concepts much clearer. It would be great if everyone could rework his translations accordingly. I strongly believe that each time a text is reworked, it arrives at a better version. By the end of febrari, we should be able to have pretty final versions of all translations published.

There is a new, completely revised version available of the English Dilucot text.

It may still contain one or two typos, and somehow I lost the credits (the article is co-written by Paul and myself), but apart from that, this is the final (I promise) Dilucot version, and to be considered the canonical source for all other Dilucot translations. This new text is considerably less esoteric than the previous one, and we believe much easier to comprehend.

Could everyone who made a Dilucot translation please wade through his text one final time, revise it accordingly to this new English text and to the principles discussed earlier on in this thread? Please submit a final version in plain text format, with more or less the same structure as the English version.

Thanks for the new guide, I really like it! And yes, I do find it easier to comprehend.

I know you said it was the final version, and I'm probably nitpicking here, but I have two suggestions for changes:
Page 5, English, on the caption by the picture of the hair. Text has "van" in it from the Nederlandse versie.
Also, with the English version, there are a bunch of blank pages at the end, and there's no copyright notice like in the Nederlandse versie.

Quick Typo:

In the HHT Section, "If everything checks out, the edge will almost immediately
catch and severs the hair" that should be sever instead of severs.

Also "For more information, refer to this article." which article?

And finally I presume the finished article will have an attached video as reffered to in the closing remarks?

The Dutch version has been further revised by myself, while Paul and I were working on the English version. I haven't replaced the Dutch PDF yet, but it is completely finished as well.

Thank you all for the proofreading, I'll correct the reported typo's. Links to other articles will be add a lather stage. As we're currently reworking the entire sharpening academy, the links would become obsolete rather soon.
