Oooooops! Sorry Matt,I did`nt realize you were involved in the design

Well I actually wasn't, it's a misunderstanding. It's a 95% template as of now, to my knowledge. I'm supposed to be involved more, though.

Anyway, even if it was 100% my job, you shouldn't refrain yourself from an honest opinion. :)

Matt

I'd just like to make the suggestion to ensure the new site is fully optimized for phones. I actually do a fair bit of browsing on my phone.

I'm looking forward to it.

One of the new Associates at ArtisanShaving is occupied into that line of field. I expect that we will get Tapatalk up and running in the foreseeable future.

Tapatalk is probably one of the most important mobile features to implement, but there are some of us who do it the manual way. Just make sure the double-taps work as and where they should, and that there aren't any menu tabs or forum functions hiding behind each other.

And, for what it's worth, I don't think the lack of glitz has hurt Coticule.be, so I doubt it'll hurt the new site either. It's the content and the community that count.

A comprehensive and well-organized FAQ is desperately needed for us newbies.

I use my Iphone a lot of the time, and have no problems with functionality, I know Bart uses his Ipad too (same Safari browser)

I have tried taptalk on other sites, but I miss the full features of "Proper" sites

That said as Bart says we will be getting Taptalk functionality sooner or later

Can I add to the wish list?

I try to keep a record of my hones, an index of attributes, so to say. There are a lot of experienced people here who know their stones well. Could we have a data base option for posting pictures and qualities of different hones (without normal thread activity, just descriptions)?

At the moment, this type of information is in Bart's coticule gallery, for those stones he has tested, but there is a wealth of information scattered all over in different threads. If we could centralize all of these contributions, I think it would be very informative.

For that matter, it may be better to have this function here on coticule.be? (I am pretty sure this has been knocked around before...)

Torolf

I'm not even a "Coticule ho", and yet I think this is a great idea.

I've just discovered this thread:cry:

So time has come but I think I will go on wandering on coticule.be with a bit of nostalgy.

I wish good luck to the new administrators. I'm sure this will be a beautiful extension of coticule.be.

I think that the structure of the cafetaria was a factor which contributes to the coticule.be spirit : camaraderie, open mindness but also frankness, real desire to exchange knowledge, absence of balance of power (humble padawan to respecful jedi).... It seems also that I have never met a moderator :D

If I can add something to the wish list, I'd like a "coticule tavern" subforum.

And maybe another technical detail, could it be possible to be able to add in the member description, possible membership to other fora. So it may be easy to change it's member name while registering . Mine is particularly ridiculous:blush: but I think I will keep it.

It's one of the things we've been working on. A cataloging database and its input interface are already done, but we're still working on the display module (with search and filtering capabilities).
In a first phase, the input side of this database will only be accessible to the members of the Coticule Mapping Crew (a project that assesses the properties and morphology of old (non-Ardennes) Coticules). But in a second phase, we will open a second incarnation of this database, for Coticule users around the globe to enter their hone(s).

Kind regards,
Bart.
Then the light shone, trumpets sounded and I got to the other side, where men shave with smiles on their faces, razors pop hairs, and a continuous choir singing «~~Keen and Smooth~~» is heard everywhere. (Matt)

We will do ara very best to export and maintain that atmosphere on ArtisansShaving.

We've thought about that, but decided not to take that route.
ArtisanShaving is a forum about the Traditional Shaving with cutthroat razor. Coticule.be will be using it as the place where our members can meet each other. We will also make our future anouncements over there, etc. But at the same time, ArtisanShaving is not the exclusive playground of Coticule.be. Also those who have no direct interest in Belgian hones, should feel equally welcome. We can't start separate sections for each member's preferred sharpening solution, hence we won't do it for Coticules either. Should the Sharpening section at ArtisanShaving become too large for members to keep an oversight, we will decided on a logic subdivision then. Right now, there is an interesting subdivision between threads that seek help and information, and threads that seek exchange of ideas.

I'm not sure I understand what you mean. If you would like a separate field in your member profile, where you can enter your membership to other forums and the username you have over there, I think that is an excellent idea, and I will propose it on the board of ArtisanShaving.

Kind regards,
Bart.

I'll be there ....
... but currently I'm pretty down since coticule.be has come to and end. Over the last 1 1/2 years it had it's fixed place in my daily routine. I learned so much, had fun and trouble, and got to know some fine people which I have to come to consider friends - no matter how far apart.
Well, that's life. Things come, change and go. I'll be missing it

That's exactly what I mean:)

I agree and fully understand. I just feared to lose the "manageable size" which I think is a reason of the "coticule tavern" 's success .

Also i prepare the Cretan Hone shipments

With this new batch of cretan hone users coming, no doubt there will be an interesting topic to follow on ArtisanShaving:)
