Has anyone else been having problems with the drop down menus on the site?

Yes, me. As of today, it seems. Additionally, the 2nd and 3rd paragraphs of the "Rules of conduct" section are hidden by the message box in this reply.

Bugger.
Contao (fka "Typolight") ran an update yesterday, from 2.8.4 to 2.9
Seems like that messed a few things up.
I'll see what I can do when I get home from work, later today.
I moved this thread to "Website announcements and suggestions", where we keep track of these issues.
While we're working on it, apologies for any inconveniences.
Kind regards,
Bart.

Then the light shone, trumpets sounded and I got to the other side, where men shave with smiles on their faces, razors pop hairs, and a continuous choir singing «~~Keen and Smooth~~» is heard everywhere. (Matt)

Bart,
Could we possibly change the current "theme" to one with one or two proper sidebars and get rid of the DHTML menus? They are a pain to use on mobile devices, too.
Thanks!
Robin

No.
I spent too much time putting "the eye cancer" (as you named it in your public blog on WSW) together, to be inclined to remove the horizontal Coticule-menus. I probably spent more time in figuring out how to get these menus working than in creating the rest of the website, when I was building it during the frist 6 months of 2009. I am an amateur when it comes to building websites. I'm not going to apologize for the IT part of Coticule.be reflecting my inexperience, or even my lack of good taste. (Although I do like the look of these menus).
The day this website becomes one of those streamlined 13 in a dozen installments that you can find all over the Internet, loaded with all kinds of fancy features, that I consider the Online equivalent of a Fusion razor with gel compartment, 5 teflon coated blades, battery-powered vibratory function and an extra nose hair trimmer attachement hidden in the handle, expect me to have retired from this tiresome habit of turning my hobby into a public service. (actually less unlikely as most of you might think)
Kind regards,
Bart.

Bart,
You are confusing two things here. The eye cancer part I can live with (in reality, I have changed the yellow fonts to white and made the menus more readable with some Firefox + Greasemonkey magic), but the menus are part of the "Hard to Use" part I was ranting about.
As for the rest: Form follows function. I hate feeping creaturism as much as you do (probably more, because I understand the technology behind it, and how it could be put to sensible use, a little better), but some things simply make sense. So stop being cruel and mean to my website - I like its features, not least because they are completely useless
Regards,
Robin

A temporary solution to twitching drop down menus in IE8:
All of the sudden a new button with an icon of a torn sheet of paper appeared in my IE8 next to the address bar.
It's description was:
Compatibility View: websites designed for older browsers will often look better,
and problems such as out-of-place menus, images, or text will be corrected.
After pressing this button the menus stopped twitching.

Both issues (drop down menus not working and subheaders partially blocked) should now be fixed.
I've checked Firefox and IE8, and they seem to be working fine with the fix I've applied.
If anyone else his having problems, please let me know.
Kind regards,
Bart.
