Everything seems fine here Ralfy... its 9:06 PM in NY

BTW I see both threads/posts/duplicates..

EDIT: though I did get an "script error" while replying to this thread... Hit the back space and re post again resulting in a double post... so I deleted my second post... must be a momentary glitch in the system.

I 've had a drop out, 2 days ago at about 2:30 AM. I checked with the provider's website, and it said "maintenance work in progress at the servers". Normally they send a notice when they're expecting serious down time. Perhaps they expected no or only minor glitches.

Not much we can do anyway.

Thanks for sharing
Kind regards,
Bart.

FWIW, I keep getting sporadic 500 Internal Server Errors and slow load times right now.

Yeah, things seem fine now. It was a different case twelve hours ago, though. Maybe Bart can check the web server logs.

Yes, I could. But what we really need is a sysadmin.

I can assist a bit if it's any help.

What we need is someone to put in charge of the website development of Coticule.be.
It will probably require some serious work catching up with all the neglected issues in the current incarnation of Coticule.be. Operation "Clean Up Bart's Mess" so to speak. :O
After that, it would probably not require a lot of work, just setting up extra functionality whenever that is called for. The job requires knowledge of CSS and preferably also a notion of PHP.

If you are willing to accept such a commision, it would solve one of my most poignant headaches concerning Coticule.be. If not, I will have the future sysadmin contact you when he could use assitance. Either way, thank you for the offer to help.

If you're interested in the sysadmin commision, please drop me an e-mail.

Kind regards,
Bart.

If no one takes the offer, I have a chum who does it for a living, I am sure I he would help out, even if it were just for the initial mop up, so to speak

I'd prefer to have someone with a bit of a post count in the Cafeteria. And besides that, cleaning up mess, is the best way to learn your way around in a place.

;)

For what it is worth, I see these also at times. They usually happen around 12:00AM in my neck of the woods. I believe these system errors lead to the duplicate posts. What happened for me one time was that I made a post and received that error message. I went back to re-post and ended up with duplicate posts. Now I just refresh to see if the post went through when I encounter these error messages. The posts usually do go through despite those messages.

With my first out-of-college job, I'm not in a good position right now to commit time to a full backend overhaul, but I can provide technical assistance, including sysadmin help, as needed. I'll gladly be an aid to Ray or whomever.

I also had a 500 internal server error today. But having already read this thread, I ignored it and post was as good as always. But it will never hurt to do Ctrl+A Ctrl+C before posting. Or, what was this Firefox plugin? :)

cheers,

Matt
