Coticule weekend

24-26 September 2010
Location: Vielsalm vicinity, Belgium

Gentlemen,

If you would like to participate, it is required to enlist.
To do this, you must:
post in this thread: let us know with how many people you will attend.
make an advance payment to "bart at coticule . be" (Paypal account) of 20 EUR per person.

iconNote:
the advance payment will be used for food and drinks during your stay. We organize this weekend for free. The honing class is free. Visit to Ardennes is free. Sleeping bag space at the Ardennes Ateliers is free. You must make your own arrangements to travel to Brussels Central Railway Station. If you require hotel accommodation, we can arrange this for you (upon your request), but you must pay the hotel at check-out. The general concept is that of a backpackers' trip, you do not need to bring a tuxedo. Please read the preliminary planning to get an idea of the activities.

Please sign in before September 14th, if possible sooner, so we know how many participants to expect.
If you plan to only attend the Saturday afternoon activities, you don't need to pay the advance, but do announce your planned presence in this thread.

More information in this thread: http://www.coticule.be/the-cafeteria/topic/562.html

Program (preliminary planning):
Friday, 24th, around noon.
Brussels - Central Railway Station
Gathering of participants - short visit to Brussels - grabbing a beer and having dinner.
19h00: travel to Ardennes Coticule Atelier, Petit Sart (Lierneux), depending on number of participants, we'll use cars or a shuttle-bus. It's approximately a 1 hour drive.
20h30: Installation for the night. There's a free "sleeping bag" option at Ardennes, or for those who need additional comfort, we can arrange hotel accommodation in Vielsalm (the nearest little town)
21h00: Campfire, tasting a fine selection of Belgian Beers, informal mustering till sleeping bag calls.

Saturday, 25th.
7h30: Rise and shine.
8h30: breakfast in Vielsalm
9:h30 - 12h00: Razor sharpening and knives honing class
12h00 - 13h00: lunch, possibility to join in, for those who couldn't make it on Friday.
14h00 - 19h00: guided tour at Ardennes Coticule, visit to the quarry at Ol Preu, descendance in the mine at Regné
20h00: barbecue at Ardennes Coticule Atelier.

Sunday, 26th.
7h30: Rise and shine
8h30: breakfast at Ardennes Coticule Atelier
Return to Brussels - Central Railway Station area.
Then the light shone, trumpets sounded and I got to the other side, where men shave with smiles on their faces, razors pop hairs, and a continuous choir singing «~~Keen and Smooth~~» is heard everywhere. (Matt)

Yes, you can also wire the amount to my bank account. I'll send you the number in an e-mail.

Beste groeten,
Bart.

Sir Bart,

Please count me in. Travel by car. Two persons and hotel accomodation.
Would it be possible to transfer money directly to your bank account?
I don't have PayPal account and I'm not sure it's worth to create it just for this payment.

With best regards,
Marek

Now,where is our official SHITCA tattooer?
Is he planning on joining Gary,or will he stay at home tattooing and honing? Bless him if that`s the case.Just hope he`s better at tattooing than honing..Bwahahah. Kidding,Ralfy is an excellent honer, one of the very best. Though he does have a job to do in Belgium " a SHITCA tattoo on the house" as far as I remember..hint hint wink wink..

Kindest regards

On Friday, we will gather in "A LA MORT SUBITE", a pub in the heart of Brussels, very near the Central Railway station. "Mort Subite" means "Sudden Death" and it is also the name of one of the famous Gueuze Beer they serve over there. (A must-taste when visiting Belgium)
Here's a picture of the pub's inside, all "Art Nouveau" style:

Reaching the pub from Central Railway Station is one of the loveliest 6 minutes walks in Brussels.
You will walk trough the famous "Rue des Bouchers", and part of the the beautiful St.Hubert Passage, build in the midst of the 19th century.

There's a knife shop somewhere at the passage, please note that we don't accept any liability for loss of funds...
At the end of the Passage, The "Mort Subite" is just a bit down the road ahead.

More news follows soon.
If possible, I would like to know the participants estimated times of arrival for further planning.

Kind regards,
Bart.
