Maurice suggested an excellent nearby hotel, "Le Val d'Hébron". The owner is a son of a former Coticule Miner and the hotel's restaurant is decorated in a Coticule theme. I haven't seen it, but Maurice highly recommended it. The price would be around 35 EUR per night for one person. 55 EUR per night for a couple.

There is a free sleeping bag option to spend the night at the Ardennes atelier. That's what I will be doing. I will be serving bacon and eggs in the morning and a barbecue on Saturday night. On Friday evening we will eat BELGIAN fries at a traditional Belgian "Fritkot". After all, it is our national dish.

I need to know who wants to stay at the hotel as soon as possible, so Maurice can drop by at the hotel next week and make the necessary reservations.

Kind regards,
Bart.

Once everyone is gathered in Brussels on Friday, the plan is to all travel together in a small van.

We'll be travelling by car so please don't count us for a van.

As I mentioned, please make a reservation for us.

Bart, Denny here. I cannot attend the weekend since I got involved in your world too recently. I don't know if it is kosher or not to ask, but is it possible for you to pick out a finishing stone for me that is about 25-30 mm wide? (Just over an inch?) I would be glad to Paypal you funds. If I am not barking up the wrong tree, please let me know and I will get more specific with my request. Thanks either way and you can rest assured, I am jealous of those attending. Denny

Hi Ralfy--DjKelly here--left you a message on your Tat2 site, but to back it up, please give me your personal e-mail address so I can discuss the Pilgrimage with you. My address is DJKelly@msn.com. I know there is an easier way to do this, but it is beyond my current expertise. Denny

Hi,
Thought I'd weigh in to aid a bit with the planning. I'll be bringing a sleeping bag for overnighting at the mine. But I don't land at Charleroi until 16:15 on Friday. I don't know how long the bus takes to the central rail station but I'm guessing I can be there around 17:30. I hope that doesn't mean I'll miss beers at the stately pub you posted pictures of, Bart!

Torolf

I don't think if you land that late you will make it at 17.30 at brussels

On Friday, we need to be at Ardennes at 18h00. Maurice will be waiting on us with the key. To be there in time, we have to depart in Brussels at 16h00. So it's not an option for you to meet us in Brussels, because we're already on the way to Ardennes when your airplane lands.

Here's what I propose:
From Charleroi Airport, take the shuttle bus to Charleroi SUD Railway. That's a trip of about 20 minutes. Once there, buy a ticket to Vielsalm. It should be no problem to catch the train of 17h00 to to Liege. (direction Liers, you get off at Liege-Guillemins) at 18h13. Next hop on the train to Vielsalm that departs at 18h28 (direction Gouvy). Arrival at Vielsalm: 19h47.
About 20 minutes before your arrival, give us a call on the cell phone (I will send you the number in an e-mail) and someone will pick you up at Vielsalm Railway Station.

Another option would be to rent a car. By car, it takes about 1 hour and 40 minutes to travel to Petit Sart, where Ardennes is located.

When do you need to be in Charleroi on Sunday?

Kind regards,
Bart.
