The Bible and several other self help or enlightenment books cite the Seven Deadly Sins. They are: pride, greed, lust, envy, wrath, sloth, and gluttony. That pretty much covers everything that we do, that is sinful... or fun for that matter. - Dave Mustaine

Just got back home...

WOW! What a weekend!

Yes, pictures will be posted and I'll try to share some sort of written impression. To use a Dutch expression: the past weekend was one to frame. :)

Kind regards,
Bart.
Then the light shone, trumpets sounded and I got to the other side, where men shave with smiles on their faces, razors pop hairs, and a continuous choir singing «~~Keen and Smooth~~» is heard everywhere. (Matt)

I fully agree those who weren't there really missed something

I could not agree more!

Seeing you in action and hearing your explanations, including all these little details that make the difference, was a real eye-opener for me.
The combination of knowledge from the "Master of the Stones" Maurice, who clearly knows all about his Coticules, and the "Master of the Game" Bart, who knows all about their use for our beloved razors, is just an unbelievable treasure. Not to mention the impressing knowledge and skills of the attendants, with a special mention for Gary as the "Master of the Execution", seeing him shave others really is amazing, with the use of a different skin-pinch for every little stroke he makes.

So thank you once more Bart for the superb weekend, I had a great time (even though I could only attend one (long) day).
Thank you Maurice for the incredible hospitality.
Thank you Wim for the ride home.
And thank you to all other attendants.

oh yes, thank you also to Ardennes Owl for safeguarding "The One" hone. Being able to see a glimpse of it was the most intriguing part of the whole trip that is for sure. If ever Maurice finds another of these, I asked for it first...

I took some pictures, I will try and make them available to Bart as quick as possible.

Regards,
Hendrik

P.S.: After being woken up by my kids at 6AM, as usual and thus as expected, I put the theory in practice this morning with a good honing session. Perfect it was not, certainly compared to the show of last night, but I had a great and rewarding shave afterwards resulting in more hair than skin removed from my face. A good start and more to come for sure...

You better start saving up, buddy, 'cause next time we won't let you off the hook that easily. It was such a wonderful experience that I thought at various times "damn, I wish they could have made it". (Torben, Urmas, Matt, yourself and others that I know would have liked to attend).

Hendrik, I'm looking forward to your pictures. We spoke about the pictures with the other guys this morning. We agreed that I will setup an upload link for sending the pictures to the Coticule.be server. I will e-mail you instructions once set up. If you would be able to down-sample the pictures to 800px width (ideal for website display), that would be great and also make them quick to upload. Should we want to exchange a few precious pictures in higher resolution afterwards, we can easily do so per e-mail. I hope it's ok for you to do it that way.
Now, please enlighten me, when did you guys got to see the owl? When you returned home?

Kind regards,
Bart.

Haha! The next (a tad harder, mehopes) quiz:

iconQuote:
The owls are not what they seem

Googling of course will reveal the answer, but does anyone remember? :)

Now for the images. Among many options is a pretty handy online tool called Dropbox. If you drop in at http://db.tt/Kent0Hh both me and anyone who registers get extra 0.25GB added to regular 2GB available. You can share any kind of files through it, make photo galleries, there's also a nice application that makes synchronizing files between computer and your Dropbox account easy as pie. Though some here are low-tech :) I believe that some others might like it. I've been using this excusively for sharing any images I've posted here for several months.

Whatever option you choose gentlemen - BRING'EM ON!

And remember about the quiz :)

my best regards to all,
Matt

Bart,
OK for the pictures. I will try to downsize them as soon as I find some time and will wait for your instructions.

For clarity, the owl I did not see.
I was actually reffering to the glimpse you gave us at the very start of the honing class of "The One" hone it safeguards (although the owl could certainly do a better job, maybe a dog would be a better idea..)
